about kinto

We got tired of heavy plugins.

So we started building light ones. Kinto is two people, a clear idea, and a preference for tools that do their job and stay quiet.

The name

Kinto comes from two Japanese words — gold, and measure. Value, weighed carefully. It's also a nod to Kintoun, the little cloud that shows up only when it's needed and carries you exactly where you're going.

That's the feeling we're after. A plugin shouldn't announce itself. It should be the quiet modifier — like the Fn key on a keyboard. On its own it does nothing loud. Held down, it unlocks a little extra from what's already there. Each Kinto product is one key that does one useful thing: @ to capture, & to relate, / to search, ✓ to care.

The way we build

Small on purpose. Consent before capture. Your data in your database, never held hostage on ours. We'd rather ship one plugin that earns its place than a suite that clutters your admin and slows your store. So we start with Kinto Capture, prove it works, and grow from there.

We build this alongside our day jobs, on purpose. It keeps us honest about what actually matters and stops us from shipping filler.

The two of us

Building Kinto from two corners of the world — mostly on evenings and weekends.

Product & engineering

Carlos is a senior software engineer with more than six years building high-performance frontends and full-stack systems. He ran his own development company in the early days and now works with SaaS companies, always where product engineering meets everyday usability, so the technology serves the person using it. He owns how Kinto is built, and already runs WordPress care for real clients by hand — exactly the quiet, unglamorous work Kinto is meant to make lighter. He's driven by product and the nomad life, building from wherever he happens to be.

Where we're headed

Capture first — the plugin that catches guest-checkout emails at Add to Cart, before the checkout is ever abandoned, and without dark patterns. Then Relate, Search, and Care, each shipped only once it earns the space. WordPress today; Shopify, Wix, and others next.

If that sounds like your kind of tool, we'd love to hear from you. Say hello at hello@kinto.build.
