privacy

Privacy, in plain terms.

The short version: your customers' data stays with you, nothing is captured without consent, and Kinto doesn't quietly collect anything on its own servers.

Who this covers

This page explains how the Kinto Capture plugin handles data, and what Kinto does and doesn't collect when you use our software and visit our site. It's written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email hello@kinto.build.

Your customers' data lives in your database

When a shopper gives their email through Kinto Capture, that lead is stored in your own WooCommerce database, on your own hosting. It is your data. Kinto does not copy it, sync it, or hold it on our servers.

  • Local storage. Leads and consent records are saved inside your store, under your control.
  • Export anytime. You can export your leads to CSV whenever you want — including on the free plan, and including after you've reached the free lead cap.
  • Delete anytime. Built-in GDPR deletion tooling lets you remove a person's data on request, with no limits and no paywall.

Nothing is captured without consent

Kinto Capture is consent-first by design. A shopper's email is only collected after a clear, affirmative opt-in — no pre-ticked boxes, no silent capture, no collecting data in the background. Every capture is paired with a consent record so you can show when and how permission was given.

We don't send email for you

Capture collects leads and hands them off to the email tool you already use — it does not send marketing email on your behalf. That keeps the sending, and the responsibility for it, with you and your chosen provider.

Data minimization by default

We collect the minimum needed to do the job. Where a count will do, we use a count rather than storing extra personal information. For example, when the free plan reaches its lead cap, Capture shows an anonymous tally of missed opportunities rather than quietly hoarding data you can't access. This is a deliberate choice, made to fit GDPR's data-minimization principle rather than to work around it.

What Kinto collects about you

Separate from your customers' data, we collect a limited amount of information to run the business:

  • Licensing. If you buy a paid plan, licensing and payments are handled through Freemius, our licensing partner. They process the details needed to manage your license and billing.
  • This website. When you visit kinto.build or email us, we handle only what's needed to respond and to keep the site running. We don't sell your information.

Your rights

Because your customers' data sits in your own store, you remain its controller — you decide how it's used, and you hold the tools to access, export, or delete it. For the limited data Kinto holds about you as a customer, you can ask us to show it, correct it, or delete it by emailing hello@kinto.build.

Changes to this page

As Kinto grows and new products ship, we'll update this page to match. We'll keep it in plain language, and we won't make quiet changes that reduce your control over your own data.
